SightLine Announces Noninvasive Uterine Fibroid Removal Procedure in Houston

MRgFUS will mean less recovery time and fewer side effects for women suffering from uterine fibroids.

HOUSTON, September 1, 2005—SightLine Health announced today the opening of a specialized center in Houston providing the latest treatment for uterine fibroids, MR-guided focused ultrasound ablation (MRgFUS). Through the use of ultrasound waves, MRgFUS offers surgery-free treatment of fibroids from the uterus. SightLine of Houston is one of a very limited number of facilities performing the procedure in the United States.

MRgFUS uses ultrasound energy to destroy uterine fibroids (abnormal growths in the muscles of the uterus). The equipment used at SightLine Houston is ExAblate, the only FDA-approved MRgFUS equipment.
